Hi, and welcome! I’m Mark Schinnerer.  For years I struggled with figuring out what success was for me.  I didn’t think I knew enough, I didn’t think I had the skills, and I didn’t think it was meant for me.  So I spent all those years wishing and wanting more success in my life and or my family and I settled.  I settled for what I could do and what I could learn.  And what I know about you is you probably have the same thoughts and desires and questions.  I know, because I was you.  I thought it wasn’t meant for me.  But then I realized it was only my thinking that kept me from success.  So I started working on me.  By reading books on personal development, leadership and success principles.  I have been a student and teacher of leadership and leadership principles for a number of years.  I have started this blog to create a discussion about personal growth, business growth and leadership.  I want you to come on this journey with me and let’s grow and prosper in our own success.

My Content

I have taught leadership programs and worked with individuals on leadership principles and helped people with their own personal growth journey.  Although leadership principles and personal growth are being taught everywhere, I see a great lack of discussion about the basic foundation of personal growth and leadership.  You can find books, blogs and podcasts on “The # Principles of Success” or “# Steps to Personal Growth” and many others.  But I have used a process that is so basic it dates back to the beginning of time.

So, I write and speak about leadership and personal development.  At times, I write about other topics that may not be so closely related to those categories because it interests me or needs to be discussed.

I hope to create thoughtful and relevant content so you can put it to work in your life.  If you think about yourself as a leader – or someone who wants to be – then this blog is for you.

My Biography

I was shy growing up.  A Kansas farm boy who spent more time with Boots, my dog, a Collie and my best friend.  We went everywhere together, well as far as you could go out in the middle of farm country.

The world was my imagination.  I flew airplanes, dug holes so deep I was sure I was going to hit China, and I chased rabbits.  I watched the Apollo 11 moon landing on a grainy black-and-white tv.  And I dreamed of being an astronaut.  Funny thing, no one ever said I could if I wanted to.

I mostly kept to myself during school, and even in college I just had a small circle of friends, that included my eventual wife, Linda.  I never spoke up much and just got my work done.  College was something to finish, so I finished in 3 1/2 years.

It wasn’t long after I finished college and began working that I came to believe if I wanted more out of life I needed to change.  I needed to be more outgoing.  But it’s hard for someone who is shy, an introvert.

I eventually realized there were principles I learned on the farm that applied to my own personal growth.  The principles and processes that are used on every farm were the same principles and processes I could use to grow my own success.  So I started reading.  Og Mandino’s book, “The Greatest Salesman in the World” set me on a new course in my life.  In the book, Mandino said that to be a good salesperson, you must believe in yourself and the work you are doing.  Believe in myself.  So I did.

I began a journey of reading and working on ‘me’ and I took every opportunity to say YES.  It’s amazing what happens when you say YES to opportunities to get in front of people.  You quickly stand out and end up being the ‘go-to guy’.  That’s pretty cool.  I encourage and help others to take more chances to say YES!

I will share these principles and processes with you and walk with you on your journey to grow your own success.

My Family

I have been married to my wife, Linda, for over thirty-five years.  We have two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren.  We live in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading and gardening.  I am a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where I serve as the worship leader.
